04 Oct Koondrook Barham Farmers Market

Held on the banks of the beautiful Murray River, set amongst the trees our market offers our community the chance to eat fresh and buy local. The market gives local growers a chance to sell locally, and to show off what our area grows and produces. The whole concept of the farmers market is to encourage locals to buy seasonal fresh produce, which in turn leads to a healthy lifestyle and a more sustainable future for our farmers. In the future we would ideally want to hold the market every week to give shoppers the best chance at getting regular fresh produce.

The Red Gum Food Group is a network of growers and local food enthusiasts that work together to promote our regions unique produce and fine food. We run the farmers market and are promoting food and agritourism in our region, with plans to develop a farm gate trail in the future.

monthly true farmers market held on the bank of the Murray River in Koondrook

Welcome to the home of the Koondrook Barham Farmers Market! We are a monthly true farmers market held on the bank of the Murray River in Koondrook, right next to the majestic old bridge. The setting shows off what we love so much about our region – amazing food, great big beautiful red gums and the peaceful Murray River. The natural beauty and peace and quiet is very addictive!

We started operating the market in September 2011 and we have been growing slowly but surely ever since. In early 2012 we gained our accreditation with the Victorian Farmers Market Association and received Regional Development Funding to expand the market.

Our region is an amazing area quite unique to any other. Our market reflects our agricultural industry and we hope that by continuing the market we continue to inspire farmers, create awareness of their great practices and help the food security of our community.
